Music has always been an extension of
Kenny's life and in the music of MBE he has set out to
inject a special kind of rhythm into parties.
One of the reasons
Kenny started MBE, was at parties he attended it always seemed that the
DJ(s) pretty much played what he wanted, with a couple
of request thrown in to keep the crowd at bay just long enough to
get him through the event. MBE makes every effort
not to be the focal and vocal point of any event, but
prefer to be the instrument of what you envisioned your affair to
be. MBE doesn't aspire to any Cirque De Soleil
circus tricks on the dance floor and MBE doesn't parade
the Radio City Rockettes at your event.
MBE has absolutely nothing against that type of
entertainment and on occasion we've enjoyed it as much as
anyone else. However, MBE prefers to see you and
your guests on the dance floor rather than having you watch
paid dancers strut their stuff. You have plenty of your own
"stuff" to strut and MBE provides the music for
you and your guests to do so. Kenny's background is
engineering and the attention to detail of that discipline
has carried over into his DJ enterprise. From the moment a
prospective client contacts MBE, Kenny focuses on all the
not-so-little details that he knows will
eventually be your big picture. Behind the scenes, he
works tirelessly with the other DJs to find the right music
selections for every event and for every different situation. He
meets with the client and make calls to the other
professional vendors to assure that everyone sees the
client's big picture. At events, he's often seen walking
around and mingling with guests, just trying to figure out
what's working, what's not working, what's making
them smile and getting an overall impression. He then
returns to the DJ booth and make all the necessary
adjustments. Kenny expects much from his DJs, not only because
the clients expects much of Mobile Beats Entertainment, but
because Kenny always expects much of himself. |

Tyke started to
help Kenny out transporting
and setting up equipment in his college days. Tyke was
usually there to have a good time and after he had completed
his duties, helping Kenny set up, Tyke would disappear among
the crowd; working them like a politician on a campaign
trail. Once the music started Tyke was in the
middle of the dance floor doing guest participation
dances, showing the guests the latest dance floor moves and
generally making sure everyone was comfortable and having a
good time. Kenny is sure that was the only time Tyke actually
worked up an honest sweat! But Kenny actually took notice and was
impressed that Tyke made people laugh and helped break down
barriers and inhibitions. Kenny, of course, took advantage of
this talent and made Tyke the official MC (Master of
Ceremonies) at all his events. Tyke has a BS degree in
communication and worked as a college radio DJ in college
(Virginia Beach, VA) and did a stint in radio communications
after that. But he missed the interaction with the crowds
and subsequently asked Kenny to branch out to Maryland,
where he settled after college. With over 12 years
experience, including weddings, college functions/parties,
High School parties, family
reunions and corporate office parties, Tyke
intends to bring MBE's special kind of music to your next
event.

Darwin "DJ" Benavides may have
started a trend circa 1980 with his weekly summer house parties.
Those were the heyday of Disco and House music and there always
was an assortment of Salsa, Meringue and Bachata all mixed
into one evening for the varied crowd. DJ was literally the
house DJ, because the parties were always at his parent's
home and he always played the first and last song. These are
the parties that Kenny attended to learn the music and how to dj.
Darwin took some personal time off from DJing to join the
"real" world and start a family and it wasn't until
years later, when Kenny was searching for additional help
for the upstart MBE, did he decide to return to DJing.
Although much had changed during his absence, Darwin has never
missed a beat upon his return and he was able to pick up right
where he had left off. His technical skill and music experience
has enabled MBE to continue to provide its customers with
generations of classic party music, that to this day, have meant
so much to us growing up. Darwin, to this day, remains the house
DJ. |

MBE's latest addition to their staple of
DJs is younger brother, Rod Pantophlet. Rod also goes by his DJ
name, "Renegade Master", because unlike the other
DJs who are more beatmixers, the Renegade Master does all the
"scratching" Hip-Hop and battle DJs are popular for. He
will have to learn to apply those skills to cds and mp3
audio, because Kenny has decided to keep the entire vinyl
collection in the basement, for now. Rod relocated from Dallas,
TX, where he spent many years following college. No doubt
he'll bring a different type of "Southwest" feel to
MBE's already multi-cultural music selection, but it's
certainly a challenge MBE will be incorporating in their music
sets. |
